invati by aveda

After a trip to an Aveda spa last month, one of their new hair lines caught my eye on the way out (I am a huge sucker for last-minute impulse buys). It’s called Invati and it’s meant to strengthen, revitalize, & thicken hair. My hair is pretty thin and breaks really easily, so I was really intrigued.

Reduce hair loss by 33%
97% NATURALLY DERIVED
Our new invatiTM system is clinically proven to reduce hair loss due to breakage to help you keep the hair you have longer.

Thicker fuller hair is yours with the power of densiplexTM an invigorating blend of ayurvedic herbs that helps power invatiTM-use this complete system for best results.

I bought the shampoo, conditioner, and scalp revitalizer.

Exfoliating shampoo ~removes build-up that can clog pores &renews the scalp.

Thickening conditioner – restores strength & improves hair elasticity, reducing breakage.

The best part of this line was the scalp revitalizer. It’s a spray that you apply twice a day to your whole scalp – usually around 10-15 sprays is enough. Just spray it onto different areas & rub it in until it feels like you’ve covered your whole head.

Within a week I definitely felt like my hair was thicker and stronger. I’m buying a new set of these three today!

number 4 hair care review

Lace & Lacquer recently won some amazing product from Birchbox and Number 4 Hair! My normal shampoos I switch between are John Frieda’s Brilliant Brunette, Herbal Essances Tousle Me Softly, and Treseme’s Volumizing. As you can tell I usually stick to body-enhancing products. These products are they sent me are hydrating in nature- L’eau de Mer Hydrating Shampoo +Conditioner +Blow Dry Lotion. I was excited to try this brand and something new for my hair!

First of all, lets talk about how cool the packaging is. I am a sucker for awesome packaging and Number 4 caught my eye immediately. Pretty things come in pretty packages and that is just what Number 4 delivers.

The product is 100% Vegan, Sulfate & Sodium Chloride Free, Gluten Free, Bad Taste Free, Paraben Free and Number 4 formulas are never ever tested on any animal. Being a vegetarian, friend to the animals, and a roommate to someone who is Gluten Free, this product is something I would be very likely to try if I saw it on shelves.

4 hair

The cool thing about Number 4 is that you don’t have to use as much product as other hair shampoo+conditioner duos. I have a TON of hair and I can use two pumps of each (they recommend one, I just really did need more). The smell is not overpowering, but very nice and fresh. I normally don’t like to use the word fresh when describing product because that usually means it smells like linen or lemons. This shampoo does not. It does not smell like either one of these but it still smells clean- reminds me a little bit of how Biolage smells.

After using Number 4 shampoo and conditioner for a week, I am more than happy with the appearance, touch, feel, and smell of my hair. I really like it!

I would put a picture up of my hair but I do not think that the difference is significant that you would be able to tell- but I can definitely feel a difference. My hair feels smooth and hydrated. When I comb my wet hair after showering, I am shocked at how well the conditioner works, especially because I do not use a large amount of it. Usually I use gigantic blobs of s&c and have to replenish my supply often. I like this shampoo system because I feel like it will last me a long time and continue to perform.

The Blow Dry Lotion was also a nice surprise. I think my favorite thing about it is that since it is all natural, I don’t have to intensely wash and wipe down my hands after running it through my hair. It helps speed up the drying process, and though I was tempted to put Moroccan Oil in my hair as well before blow drying, I am glad I didn’t because the BDL was just enough product to keep my hair smooth, silky, and under control–i.e. kill static! Damn you, dry winters in Chicago!

tresemme nourishing rituals rejuvenating mud masque ~ l&l 2012 beauty awards

I am a big fan of hair masques. I tend to use a lot of styling products (blow dryer, straightener, the whole nine yards) so my hair really needs a good deep conditioning every once in a while. One of my favorite (and less-expensive) hair masques is TresEmme’s Nourishing Rituals ~ Rejuvenating Mud Masque. You can find this in any drug store or beauty store and it works like a charm!

Just apply to damp hair, wait 3-5 minutes, then thoroughly rinse. It makes my hair feel instantly stronger and gives it great frizz control as well.

I usually also finish off my hair regimen with TresEmme’s Split Remedy. It’s a lightweight serum that protects your ends from splitting and from hair styling!
