incoco nail strips ~ l&l 2012 beauty awards

This beauty award should come as no surprise. Incoco nail strips. Over a year ago, I got my first pair in my Birchbox and I have been hooked ever since. I was confused about nail strips at first. I had always thought “Oh, I’ll get around to trying them, they seem interesting.” Bad move on my part- nail strips are life-changing. Not in the way that shellac long lasting manicures are life-changing. In the way that you can do these yourself while on your way to work and not have to go back to the salon to get them removed when one finally chips. Nail strips are 100% regular nail polish, dried 95% of the way so that they are still tacky. I have tried every drugstore brand of nail strips and these are by far my favorite so far. They are easy to apply, come in adorable and non-tacky patterns (some other brands have just ridiculous patterns) and are affordable. I have gotten Incoco manicures to stay for upwards of a week and a half, when I usually remove them because I have nail polish/design ADD.

I also recently acquired some new strips from Incoco’s Holiday Collection, Holiday Brights & Winter Nights. Here are the cute Snowflake ones I wore for my work Holiday party and all this weekend! (Can’t seem to bring myself to take them off yet). I also got another fun sparkly set that I am planning on wearing for New Year’s Eve… can’t wait!

twistbands ~ l&l 2012 beauty awards

I first became obsessed with Twistbands when I got one in my Birchbox. Then I had to buy a pack! For me, the biggest draw to Twistbands is how cute they look on my wrist next to my watch. They come in a variety of colors and patterns. My favorite one I wear is a pink lacy one (shown below).

Gone are the days of getting your hair torn out when you take out your bun and having boring black rubber bands in your hair! Twistbands are a nice way to mix up a normally boring pony. You can buy them here.

They also make awesome stocking stuffers ;)

insta this!

I got an awesome blue Color Club polish in my Birchbox this month… Insta This! I decided to do some nail art with it!

Note: Large amounts of red wine were being ingested as this nail art was going down. Which explains why I got lazy on my right hand and why I was a little messy around my cuticles. Don’t judge, it was a long week!

almost famous

I had a ton of Birchbox points so I decided I needed- what else?- some new nail polish. I ended up picking Color Club’s Almost Famous from their neon collection. I also bought a Benefit BAD gal lash mascara which I am OBSESSED with as well.

Anyways, the neon yellow is amazing! It was a pretty thick consistency and was opaque in 2 coats. Color Club has a nice formula and I was glad to see this color was consistent with the other Color Club polishes I’ve tried (Clambake Coral).

Overall, it was a great neon yellow and I can’t wait to wear it again! I wore it this weekend with a royal blue dress (borrowed from my friend Mary) and the colors worked really well together.. it made the neon yellow pop!

nude and orange manicure

For this mani, I used Zoya’s Avery (which I bought using Birchbox points)  and Color Club’s Clambake Coral (which I got in my Gossip Girl box)
