fall/winter trend ~ dark lips

Don’t be afraid to rock a darker shade on your lips this season! Go with a dark plum, dark red, or dark brown color depending on your skin tone, outfit, etc. Dark plum & dark brown tend to go well with darker skin tones, while a classic dark red looks beautiful with lighter tones. Check out this dark lipstick slideshow from stylebistro.com for celeb inspiration!

Revlon ~ Black Cherry

Revlon ~ Wine With Everything

dark plum

When I got my dark plum shade, obviously I was copying the queen of the dark lip ~ my fave Rachel Zoe. Girlfriend has been rocking the super dark look for years & looks fabulous doing so. She recently became the face of exude lipstick which I definitely want to check out. Dark plum lips instantly bring drama to any look!

Try Benefit ~ Oh Currant

dark brown

Dark brown lips looks awesome with dark hair & darker skin tones. Make sure to balance your eye makeup with such a dark lip. Try it out at your next big night out like Camilla Belle did at the 2012 Met Gala.

Try Mac ~ Film Noir to copy her exotic look.

dark red

Girls with lighter skin tones like Kate Bosworth look super old-school Hollywood glam with a dark red lip. Gorgeous!

Try Bobbi Brown ~ Crimson

almost famous

I had a ton of Birchbox points so I decided I needed- what else?- some new nail polish. I ended up picking Color Club’s Almost Famous from their neon collection. I also bought a Benefit BAD gal lash mascara which I am OBSESSED with as well.

Anyways, the neon yellow is amazing! It was a pretty thick consistency and was opaque in 2 coats. Color Club has a nice formula and I was glad to see this color was consistent with the other Color Club polishes I’ve tried (Clambake Coral).

Overall, it was a great neon yellow and I can’t wait to wear it again! I wore it this weekend with a royal blue dress (borrowed from my friend Mary) and the colors worked really well together.. it made the neon yellow pop!
